How to get and use Balloons in LEGO Fortnite

There are two types of Balloons in LEGO Fortnite: Small Balloons and Large Balloons.

To get a Small Balloon in LEGO Fortnite, you need the following materials:

  • 1 Silk Fabric.
  • 1 Torch.
  • 1 Cord.

For a Large Balloon, you must have the following materials:

  • 2 Silk Fabric.
  • 1 Torch.
  • 1 Cord.

You’ll find Balloons in the Toys section of your Build menu after you’ve made Silk Fabric for the first time. To make Silk Fabric, you need to have the Loom unlocked and five Silk Thread, which is made at a Spinning Wheel with Silk obtained by killing spider enemies.

How to unlock the Loom

To unlock the Loom in LEGO Fortnite, you must have upgraded your Crafting Table to Rare rarity (level three) or higher, after which the Loom recipe will become available to you.

The materials needed to craft a Loom are:

  • 9 Flexwood.
  • 8 Flexwood Rods.
  • 6 Sand Claws.

Flexwood is obtained by cutting cactuses in the Dry Valley biome using a Rare Forest Axe or better. You’ll need a Lumber Mill to turn your Flexwood into Flexwood Rods. As for Sand Claws, they’re dropped from Sand Wolf enemies in the Dry Valley biome.

How to use Balloons in LEGO Fortnite

Once you have Balloons in your possession in LEGO Fortnite, I’d highly recommend using them with a Dynamic Foundation. To make a Dynamic Foundation, go into the Toys section of your Build menu and spend four Flexwood to craft one.

Place your Dynamic Foundation on the ground, hop onto it, and place one Large Balloon or a couple of Small Balloons to make it float into the air. Make sure you jump on first, or the platform will rise without you on it!

To lower your makeshift hot air balloon, you must pile weight on it, or you’ll be flying forever (you can use the Glider, but you’ll lose your Dynamic Foundation and Balloons). I’d recommend either placing a Chest on your Dynamic Foundation and filling it with Wood or simply bringing some Wood along with you. That way, you can use the Build menu to keep adding weight to the platform until you descend.

You can also place other Toys on your Dynamic Foundation to aid in your flying adventures, such as an Activation Switch and Thrusters. These will help propel your Dynamic Foundation across the sky, and can also be used on ground vehicles too.

LEGO Fortnite is now available on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Android devices.
