How to Get and Reset Abilities in Final Fantasy XVI

As is common in modern Final Fantasy games, Final Fantasy XVI lets people teach Clive abilities via a skill tree. After you complete the tutorial and he finishes his first boss fight against the Gigas, you can start investing in new skills for him. Fortunately, it’s easy to get, or even reset, abilities in Final Fantasy XVI.

Well, first you need to earn Ability Points (AP) from battles by leveling up. Once you do, head to the main menu and scroll to the Abilities tab. Once you are there, hover over the abilities you want or need. It will say how many AP you need to learn or, in the case of some Eikon actions, master them. Hold the cross button to invest in it, and you’re all set.

There are both single and all or nothing options here. In the main Abilities section of the menu, press the big button in the center of your DualSense if you want to reset them all. You’ll get a warning message asking if you want to do so, which will also tell you how many AP you’ll get back. However, you can also hover over a single ability and hold the square button to just get rid of that one and get the AP back.

Final Fantasy XVI is available for the PlayStation 5. There is a six-month exclusivity period.
