How to Finish ‘For Whom the Clock Tower Tolls’ in Octopath Traveler 2

When you’re in Clockbank, the Clock Tower Technician is in a bit of a bind. The town’s clock tower isn’t working. The bridge to get there is broken. While it might not seem obvious how to get there, finishing “For Whom the Clock Tower Tolls” side story in Octopath Traveler 2 involves going down some obscured stairs, taking an NPC somewhere, and fighting a rather substantial boss called Heavenwing.

The first thing you want to do after getting the “For Whom the Clock Tower Tolls” in Octopath Traveler 2 is to allure, befriend, guide, or hire the Clock Tower Technician who offered you the quest. (I found this costs one Superior Jerky if you use Ochette.)

From there, head to Clockbank’s tavern. Directly south of it is actually a staircase that leads down to a pier. Descend it and sail east under the bridge that led you into town, then north to the clock tower.

This Old Clock Tower is a level 44 area. My team was just past level 45 when I headed in, and I still found the Heavenwing boss to be a bit of a challenge. There’s a save point right before it, so you can create a backup. When the battle begins, the 92,000 HP Heavenwing will lock away three of its five weaknesses. It has seven shield points. It is weak against swords, spears, axes, bows, and thunder, so make sure your party members can use those sorts of physical attacks and spells.

You’ll get a Gale Feather for beating Heavenwing. After the Clock Tower Technician takes care of things, you’ll get an Invigorating Nut (L) and 10,000 Leaves, and the Octopath Traveler 2 “For Whom the Clock Tower Tolls” side story will be done.

Octopath Traveler 2 is available for the Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC. A demo is available.
