Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 is here, and with it comes the debut of a new set of Kickstart Quests. This guide will explain how to accept SHADOW Briefings in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 and where to go to complete the quest.
Where to find Fortnite Shadow Briefing Locations
In Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2, the easiest place to find SHADOW Briefings is in Restored Reels. However, there are actually four locations on the map where you can drop into to complete this Kickstart Quest. After all, you can’t control where your Battle Bus will fly over the map at the start of your match.
Here are the locations where I’ve found SHADOW Briefings in Fortnite:
- Restored Reels.
- Grim Gate.
- Brawler’s Battleground.
- Reckless Railways.
As mentioned earlier, I had the easiest time completing this quest by dropping into Restored Reels, as the SHADOW Briefings terminal was fairly easy to find. For your convenience, here’s a map showing the location where you can find the Kickstart Quest objective:

How to accept SHADOW Briefings in Fortnite
To accept SHADOW Briefings in Fortnite, drop in at Restored Reels and use the new Chapter 5 Season 2 Bounty terminals. Yep, the new SHADOW Briefings are basically a revamped Bounty system. However, that’s not the only type of Briefing:
- Bounty Briefing – An opponent will be highlighted on the map and you must kill them before the timer runs out.
- Reward: 100 Gold Bars
- Supply Drop Briefing – A Supply Crate will be called into the map. Find the crate and open it before your opponents.
- Reward: Guns, Items, Gold Bars etc.
You don’t have to complete these bounties to finish this Kickstart Quest. You just need to “accept” three SHADOW Briefings in Fortnite. This can also be done across multiple matches. So if you only manage to get one during your current match, you can just finish the rest later on.
For this guide, I completed the Kickstart Quest by dropping into Restored Reels and interacting with the SHADOW Briefing terminal to accept a Bounty mission. The terminal looks like a giant briefcase laptop with a screen. When you get close to it, a label that says “Shadow Briefing” will also pop up.
After I took my bounty out, I then returned to Restored Reels with a teammate, where they picked up the SHADOW Briefing. For my second task, I called in a Supply Drop. Luckily, in my game, there were no opponents nearby. So, I was able to trek over to the dropped crate and open it. Although, you don’t need to get the crate in order for the Kickstart Quest to count it.
Once the Supply Drop had landed, I was able to return to the terminal a third time to accept one last bounty. Doing this completed the “Find and Accept SHADOW Briefings” Kickstart Quest. The reward is 10,000 XP and a step toward this season’s larger rewards.
Of course, you might not be so lucky, and there may be a lot of opponents near these terminals. So, the easiest way to complete this quest is to spread it across three matches. You can also speed this up if you play Duos with a teammate, as accepting one SHADOW Briefing actually counts as “two,” as it applies to both of you.
Fortnite is available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, mobile and PC.
