How to Find a Lynel in Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

The classic Lynel enemy returns in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, but it isn’t easy to find. In fact, it won’t show up until later in potentially the end game, and you might not even know how to find it unless you restore the church north of Hyrule Castle from an optional rift listen to the priest’s hint about it.

How do I find a Lynel in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom?

I’m not exactly sure if it is tied to the recovery of the church immediately to the west of Eternal Forest and north of Hyrule Castle. However, I did restore that prior to this happening, so it might be wise to repair that minor rift first. After you do, go inside and talk to the priest about rumors in the area.

Here is a screenshot I took showing where you’ll find him on the map:

The topic you want is on the second “page” of his options. You want to ask him about the dangerous monster. He will mention there is one lurking in Eternal Forest. He cautions you about following tracks you might find while exploring there, saying they could lead you into danger.

So obviously, you’re going to want to go into the Eternal Forest. I find if you wander around for a while aimlessly, eventually you’ll find hoof prints like the ones in the screenshots below. They’ll eventually lead you to the point in the Eternal Forest map I shared below and a fight with a Lynel.

This is genuinely a difficult fight. A single hit from the Lynel will take multiple hearts off of Zelda’s health. (Expect a minimum of four, perhaps five.) I recommend fighting a Sword Moblin Lv 3 and getting its echo first as a countermeasure. One should also be in the Eternal Forest area. The Lynel will kill the Sword Moblin Lv 3 at least twice, if not more, during the altercation, but you’ll eventually win. You’ll then be able to gain a Lynel echo as a reward.

The Lynel echo in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is basically the strongest ally you can get in the game. It’s expensive as well. Its cost is six if you haven’t upgraded Tri to level 11 by this point, and five if you have. This means Tri needs to be at a minimum of level 9 to even use it. You should find it quite a helpful “friend,” though!

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is available for the Nintendo Switch
