How to Expand Your Base in Palworld

Base building is an important part of Palworld. They provide a place to restore health, farm resources, and breed Pals. As the base gets more Pals, mining sites, and buildings, Pal Tamers will quickly notice that the space available is not enough. This guide will explain how to expand your base in Palworld.

Can I expand the base radius?

In Palworld, buildings slowly take damage once you place them outside of the base barrier. Pals assigned to your base also won’t leave the base radius. Even after the Sakurajima Island update, where Pocketpair introduced new base buildings, there is no way to expand the radius of your base. However, players can expand their base by building more than one.

As you level up your base, you will get access to more Palboxes. Palboxes are a crucial element in base building as this is where you will set the base radius, store Pals, place Pals at your base, and level up your base. Once you reach a Base level 10, you will have the ability to unlock a second base.

Set the second Palbox as close as possible to the radius of the first Palbox. As Palworld doesn’t allow bases to overlap, a red message in the bottom-right corner will indicate that a building cannot be placed in the current area. Continue to move further from the base radius until the message disappears. Once enough space is between the first base and the second, use Paldium(1), Stone(3), and Wood(8) to construct the Palbox. You will need to change a setting as well to take advantage of the space between bases, however.

As stated above, buildings outside of the base radius deteriorate slowly. To prevent this from occurring, you must change a single option in the World Settings. In World Settings, scale the option of Structure Deterioration Rate from one to zero. Setting this option to zero will make it so structures built outside of the base radius won’t be destroyed. While Pals at assigned bases will not leave the base radius, Pals that Pal Tamers have in their party will work on any mine, assembly, or other work station you assign them to.
