How to Evolve Piloswine into Mamoswine Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Many of the Generation 2 and 4 Pokemon are back in The Teal Mask DLC. This includes the Swinub line, with Piloswine and Mamoswine now in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Players can catch this iconic Ice and Ground-type Pokemon line if they go through one of two key methods.

The first method to get Mamoswine and the entire Swinub line is to start with Swinub itself. While it is possible to find Piloswine in the wild in Kitakami, it can be random and a hard fine. What you can more easily find in The Teal Mask, though, is Swinub. You can capture this adorable little dude by heading to the Oni Mountain in the center of the map.

If you go deep enough within Oni Mountain, you can head inside and find the Fellhorn Gorge area. Here is where it is surprisingly quite cold and Ice-type Pokemon like Swinub are there. Once you find Swinub, you can evolve it into Piloswine by reaching level 33.

Once you have Piloswine in your hands, the final step is to evolve it into the final form of the Generation 4 Pokemon Mamoswine. To do this the normal way, you need to first teach Piloswine the move Ancient Power. You can do this anytime after you get Piloswine, because even if it doesn’t already know it, you can help it remember this move in the menu. Then all you need to do is level up Piloswine once with that move and it will evolve into Mamoswine.

Alternatively, there is a much quicker way to get Mamoswine. It is possible to find Mamoswine directly in 5 and 6-star raid battles and catch it directly that way. However, these are randomized so it can be a bit frustrating trying to locate the right raid.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s first DLC, The Teal Mask, is available now on Nintendo Switch. The Indigo Disk is coming in Winter 2023.
