How to Evolve Nuzleaf into Shiftry Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

The Seedot line is one of the Pokemon groups to finally return to the mainline games with the release of The Teal Mask. The DLC brought back Seedot, Nuzleaf, and Shiftry Pokemon Scarlet and Violet via the new Kitakami region. There are two key ways to get the final evolution in the form of Shiftry.

First off, if you want to go the traditional route of getting Shiftry in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you’ll need to first get a Seedot or Nuzleaf. Seedot is a bit easier to catch in this game, as you can usually find this little Grass-type Pokemon in the southeastern corner of the Kitakami region. It is often in the forest along the road east of Mossui Town.

Once you find a Seedot, all you need to do at that point is level it up to 14 or higher and it will evolve into Nuzleaf. Of course, if you are far enough into the base game, you’re likely to find Seedot at a much higher level than 14.

However, you can also just catch a Nuzleaf. In the map above, you can see the areas in which you’ll see it in Kitakami. It’s around the Timeless Woods, for example.

Once you have a Nuzleaf, you are ready to evolve it into the Grass and Dark-type Pokemon Shiftry. All you need to do for this is use a Leaf Stone, and you’ll be able to get this final evolution. You can get Leaf Stones as random loot drops around Kitakami but you can also head to the Delibird Presents store in Mesogoza in Paldea and buy it there.

Alternatively, there is another route to get a Shiftry without evolution involved. It is possible to find Shiftry as a raid battle Pokemon in 5 and 6-star raids in The Teal Mask DLC. All you need to do is gather up a party of NPCs or other players and beat it to then have the chance to catch it rather easily.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s first DLC, The Teal Mask, is available now on Nintendo Switch. The Indigo Disk is coming in Winter 2023.
