One of the new Pokemon teased for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet The Teal Mask DLC is Dipplin, which you can evolve from Applin with a Syrupy Apple. However, ahead of launch we had no idea how to get this new character. As with other Applin evolutions, you need a specific sort of apple to get this one. However, you can only get it in one spot in the add-on. And, since the game directs you to go in one direction, you might not get it right away if you go where Kieran says you should go.

Now this part of the whole affair is really easy. When you head off on the quest to get pictures with Kieran by signboards in Kitakami, the quest will direct you to go past Apple Hills. There are Applin here! Shocking, I know. I saw a Terastallized, glowing Applin in the orchard, and I actually stumbled into two when riding Koraidon though this area gathering glowing items and visiting dens around the area.
Here is the map position, in case you need a more exact idea of where to go.
Now that you have an Applin, it’s time to go get a Syrupy Apple. Though, if you need Appletun or Flapple, you can find Sweet Apples and Tart Apples on the ground in the Apple Hills area.
How to evolve Applin into Dipplin in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet The Teal Mask
I stumbled upon Mossfell Confluence, the only place you can get the Syrupy Apple in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, on accident. I was staying around the initial area, picking up Poke Balls and items to help build up HMs. It’s how I found myself at a small farm to the south east of Mossui Town. It’s in the far bottom right corner of the map. Near the shed will be a small, unattended “shop” that sells only one item, a 500 coin Syrupy Apple.
Here’s the screenshot of the map to show exactly where you can buy one.
Once you get one, you can use it immediately on the Applin to evolve it into Dipplin. After it evolves, it can learn the Double Hit attack automatically.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available for the Nintendo Switch.
