Inventory management is a large part of Fields of Mistria’s early gameplay. At the start, your inventory space is fairly limited, with inventory upgrades few and far between. Paradoxically, Mistria is full of items to pick up. Engaging in any of the many activities available to you will fill out your inventory slots rather quickly. Inevitably, you’re going to have to think about what items to keep, and which ones to discard in order to make room for more valuable prizes. Discarding an item doesn’t have to be the last time you see it, however. Here’s a brief guide on how to drop items in Fields of Mistria.
How to Drop Items in Fields of Mistria
When your inventory fills up, you’re probably going to eye the trash can icon inside your inventory menu. Dragging any item from your inventory towards this icon will trash it. Don’t be so hasty! Trashing an item this way will destroy it permanently, and you won’t be able to get it back. There’s a better way. Instead, leave the inventory menu. Scroll through your toolbar items until you select the item you want to discard. From here, press the ‘G’ key if you’re using default keyboard controls, or the right trigger if using a controller. Your character will throw the item you’re holding far enough that it won’t magnetize back to you.
Items you drop won’t disappear when discarded this way. This will allow you to return later with space in your inventory and pick it back up! You can do this for just about any item in Fields of Mistria, including rewards you might have earned at the museum, or rare bugs and fish you want to turn in. So don’t trash your items when your inventory fills up unless you want to remove it from the game permanently! The only exception to be aware of is when you’re in the mines. Items you drop in the mines won’t be there when you return! A good strategy if you’re worried about running out of space when going spelunking is to drop your items on the ground before heading inside.
Hopefully this will make inventory management a little less painful next time you run out of space. While dropping your items is a good idea in a pinch, it’s better to upgrade your inventory in the long run. Make sure to learn how and where to increase your bag size in Fields of Mistria.
