How to Defeat Guptauros in Metaphor: ReFantazio

As you play through Metaphor: ReFantazio, you’ll encounter the Guptauros, which is stronger than the average mook and can be seen as a wandering mini-boss. This freakishly annoying minotaur can ruin your day, but if you know how to defeat it, you shouldn’t have too much trouble with it.

Defeating the Guptauros can net you plenty of experience, Reeve, and Magla. So it’s worth fighting whenever you see one. Archetypes I recommend for it are Healer, Gunner, Knight, and Mage. You can also cut out the middle man and let your Healer learn how to use Blizz. It’s weak to Ice and Pierce damage, and it’s immune to fire. So if you have any weapons like the Dragon’s Judgement, which turns your attacks into fire damage, you should really unequip that before challenging a Guptauros.

What makes Guptauros an incredibly irritating enemy to deal with in Metaphor: ReFantazio is its ability to cast Heat Riser onto itself, as well as its variety of multiple-target attacks. This is where Healer comes in, as Medi can help keep the party healthy and avoid any accidental deaths. When it starts to charge up for an attack, send all of your party members to the back line and get them to guard.

Guptauros’s Frenzy is not only an AoE attack, but it can hit each character two or three times if you’re unlucky. Guptauros has fairly high HP too. However, if you keep hitting its weaknesses and protecting yourself from its attacks, then so long as the weather is good, you should be able to defeat it quickly with all the extra turns you get.

Metaphor: ReFantazio is readily available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC.
