How to Defeat and Harvest the Brennig Glasstail in Eternal Strands

The Ice Wall spell is perhaps the most versatile spell in Brynn’s entire arsenal, but while you start with it at default you’ll need to wrangle a wyrm to upgrade its power. So to help you come in from the cold, here’s How to Defeat and Harvest the Brennig Glasstail in Eternal Strands.

How to Defeat the Brennig Glasstail in Eternal Strands

As with all epic foes in Eternal Strands, preparation is key when fighting the Brennig Glasstail. While you can defeat it with your basic loadout, it’s recommended that you obtain the Drakes Breath spell or at least the Flame Bow first. Both can be found in the Dredger’s Mire area, with the bow recipe being found at one of the hammer symbols on the map and the spell being obtained by felling the Ashpeak Drake. After that you’ll obviously want some armor with good frost resistance, but if you’re going to rely on fire to keep warm instead you’ll need at least a bit of heat protection so you don’t get singed by your own flames.

As for the beast’s actual moves, most of them are front-facing. As well as both single-shot and sustained breath attacks, it also has bites and a diving headbutt that can actually stun it for a while. Sticking to the sides should keep you clear of some of the worst attacks, but it can still hit you with swipes from any leg as well as a 180 degree tail sweep. It will, of course, try to reposition frequently but piling up some ice on the legs can slow or even pin it, and if you’re climbing the body you’ll naturally be moved along with it.

While the crystals on its back are breakable, the most damage comes from striking the hide. If you have enough fire-making capabilities and some resistance yourself, you can also take advantage of its long body by setting much of the ground ablaze and letting the fire do a lot of chip damage over time. One part you will want to break, however, is the icy horn on it’s head, as that increases the amount of time it spends stunned after using the diving headbutt. Use that time to get extra damage in, and the Brennig Glasstail shouldn’t be a problem.

How to Harvest the Brennig Glasstail in Eternal Strands

When attempting to harvest the Brennig Glasstail, having a reliable way to start fire becomes a necessity rather than a bonus. This is because the first prerequisite to exposing the locus is to burn away the mane of fur on the back of its neck, as this is where it will appear. Then, you’ll need to break all the ice shards on the back, tail, legs and head of the Glasstail including both the chin and forehead spikes.

Once that’s done, you’ll need to stun the beast before the locus will appear. You should have broken the main horn already, so stunning it is just a matter of baiting out the diving headbutt. Stay in front of it and back away, dodging the ice shots, until it does a wiggling animation and pounces. You should see the yellow symbol appear above it’s health bar and hear a noise, indicating you can climb on the back and harvest the locus. Take the strand back to Dahm to empower your spell, and maybe craft some useful ice resistance gear from its hide.
