One of the most controversial additions to Dragon’s Dogma 2 is the Dragonsplague affliction. While symptoms may not be clear, this guide shares what you need to look out for and how to cure Dragonsplague in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
How to cure Dragonsplague in Dragon’s Dogma 2
Once you have encountered a Pawn with Dragonsplague, the game will tell you, even if the symptoms are not immediately obvious. You will get a tutorial window that will pop up explaining what it is. But if you’ve missed it, what Dragonsplague does is make your Pawns go berserk. This affliction can travel between Pawns in the same party, which means a guest Pawn can give to your Pawn, which can be transferred to other Pawns that have come in contact with said Pawn.
Signs of Dragonsplague include a Pawn not responding to commands and their eyes glowing red. So keep an eye on your Pawns, and if you see one acting strange, immediately dismiss them. There are only two ways of curing Dragonsplague. You can either choose to kill the Pawn that has contracted Dragonsplague or, in the case of your Pawn becoming infected, transfer the plague to another Pawn.
The second option is largely the better option, but then it gives the plague to the Pawn it has transferred to, and there is no way of telling which Pawn has contracted it. If you choose to undertake this option upon noticing the first sign of Dragonsplague, dismiss all current Pawns in your party and then head to a Riftstone. This is where you can summon Pawns. You can read about that here.
Upon reaching the Riftstone, summon two new Pawns. Keep in mind that Pawns will talk about the Dragonsplague and its symptoms, so you will get a very obvious indication that a Pawn may be sick with Dragonsplague. Now, once you have summoned these two new Pawns, travel around with them for a little bit before dismissing them. Summoning new Pawns does risk pulling other Pawns that have Dragonsplague into your game, but just look for the symptoms as explained above, and if you see your Pawns acting a little strange, don’t be shy to dismiss them before they lose control and go berserk. The worst-case scenario is that the Pawn loses control of a town and kills NPCs.
Once a Pawn goes berserk, the first option is the only solution to get rid of the Dragonsplague, and that’s killing the affected Pawn. If it is your Pawn, they can be revived at any Riftstone by touching it. This will cure them of Dragonsplague, but they will always run the risk of getting it again. If it is a borrowed Pawn that loses control, you will be forced to kill them, and they will reappear in the Rift at a later time. There is no certainty that they will be cured upon returning. Dragonsplague more or less forces you to rotate your roster of Pawns, which may be irritating for some, but as a narrative tool, it’s very cool.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 is available for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X.
