Once you receive the quest from Alyx you’ll also find a note from Rexxar, giving you coordinates to your ride to Northrend. You can slap on your Tricked-Out Thinking Cap and head 44 points north and 36 points east to find a Goblin Transport vessel just a little along the beach from where you found Scrapes and Herrkrop during the previous quest. You’ll arrive on a slab of ice and need to fly slightly north to get to the Unu’pe docks, where you can recalibrate your Thinking Cap. Then, head 27 points north and you should see a camp where Rexxar will be standing a little to your west. Hand in your quest and pick up the new one titled The Trail’s Gone Cold.

How to Complete The Trail’s Gone Cold quest during the WoW Anniversary Event

The first step of this next quest is fairly simple, as instead of giving you coordinates to follow Rexxar has been kind enough to simply mark your map with the location. Head over to the marked cabin just outside the Temple City of En’Kilah and activate your Torch of Pyrreth toy. The torch will quide you to Pages 4 and 7 of a Torn Diary, while the nearby wisps will disrupt your Idol of Ohn’ahra toy. Summon Rexxar using the whistle he gave you and he’ll suggest going east, where you’ll find Page 6 of the diary in a bush. Putting all the pieces together suggests somewhere humid with pretty crystals, which has to be Sholazar Basin.

Head north to the Basin and summon Rexxar again to have two more locations marked on your map: the Glimmering Pillar and Nesingwary Base Camp. You can talk to the innkeeper at the base camp to learn Scrapes passed through heading northwards, while on the peak of the Pillar your Idol of Ohn’ahra will guide you to a spyglass aimed at Jotunheim in Icecrown. Head over to the Vrykul fortress and summon Rexxar again to have Scrapes’ hideout marked on the map. You can follow your Idol once again to find it in the south-facing wing of the fortress, along with Scrapes’ corpse and two sets of footprints. Summon Rexxar to explain your conclusions, and pick the option suggesting a shapeshifter to progress. Then, you can head back to the Anniversary Grounds to turn in the quest to Alyx.
