Just like Ukouh and In-isa, the Gutanbac Shrine in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is a tutorial area for the Ascend ability and quite easy to complete. This isn’t about taxing the player. Rather, it’s a way to get accustomed to the new skill in a forgiving environment. I found it the most straightforward of the first three, and I’m sure you’ll be flying through platforms once you get there too.
How to start rising up with Ascend by taking the time to complete The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Gutanbac Shrine
When you first walk into the shrine, Rauru will teach Link how to Ascend. From there, you’ll see a platform sticking out of the ground. Walk under it, select the Ascend ability from the wheel after pressing the L trigger, and aim upward. If you can use it, the icon will be green. Press A to ascend, and then press A again when you’re on the other side to pull yourself out of the ground.
Once on top of that floor, you’ll find two platforms. The smaller of the two on the left has a chest with a Stone Axe inside. It’s only a power 5 item, so I recommend skipping it if your weapon inventory is already full. Select the outcropping on the right, use Ascend, and aim upward. Even though the platform is thick, you’ll still go through it. They’ll be a Soldier Construct with a bow on the floor above, so be ready to dash to the side or run in and attack.
To your right in this room, you’ll see two boxes. You can use a sword here to destroy them, then Ascend in that cubbyhole to reach a treasure chest. It features a Construct Bow inside.
From there, you need to create a new platform to Ascend through. Cut the two ropes on the flat flooring being held vertically. It will drop into a horizontal position.
The next spot is about timing. You need to Ascend onto the moving platform first. It will briefly stop when moving from left to right. That’s your best chance. Then, when it arrives under the other outcropping, use Ascend.
And with that, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Gutanbac Shrine is complete, you’ve got another Light of Blessing, and you’re one step closer to being done with the Great Sky Island.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available for the Nintendo Switch.
