How to Complete ‘An Eye for an Eye’ in Final Fantasy XVI

Certain hideaway regulars can often come up in Final Fantasy XVI story missions and sidequests. For example, Charon shows up in many, like “A Bone to Pick.” With “An Eye for an Eye” in Final Fantasy XVI, both Goetz and Charon will feature prominently as you learn more about her.

How to finish “An Eye for an Eye” in Final Fantasy XVI

This is a sidequest you can start during the “Things Fall Apart” story mission, then continue after you went to Krozjit Echoes and kicked off “Cloak and Dagger.” First, go visit Goetz in the hideaway. He’ll express concern about someone talking about Charon. Head over to Charon’s Toll to subtly ask her about the situation. Once you’ve chatted, go back to check in with Goetz. He’ll want to investigate, which means heading to Dalimil.

Use the map to head to the Dhalmekian Republic. Goetz is past The Lock of Toil near the South Gate. You can see where on the map in the screenshot I took below.

Clive and Goetz will then split up. You’re heading to the storehouse past the Desert Gate. You can see that location highlighted on the screenshot I took below.

Time for a fight. All the foes are at level 33. I was at level 36 by this time, and they posed no trouble at all. After defeating them, you’ll get 500 EXP, 60 AP, 280 gil, 35 Steelsilk, 10 Bloody Hides, 5 Magicked Ash, and 1 Black Blood. You’ll also automatically be taken to the next part of the quest and a confrontation. Once you witness the events, go back to the hideaway and speak with Charon again. You earn 900 EXP, 35 renown, a Meteorite, a Continental Censer curiosity decoration for Clive’s room, and know more about Charon and Goetz when it’s all done.

Final Fantasy XVI is available for the PlayStation 5. There is a six-month exclusivity period.
