How do I change the gender of my character in Wuthering Waves?

Changing the gender of your Rover (player avatar) in Wuthering Waves is very simple. You can do so at any time via the main menu.

  1. First, open up the Settings and navigate down to the Other menu.
  2. In Other, you should see Player Setting (the second option from the top).
  3. From Player Setting, select Switch Appearance.
  4. Press “Confirm.”

After you do so, you will appear as the opposite gender of what you originally chose. You can only change your gender in Wuthering Waves once every 24 hours. So even if you regret it afterwards, you can always change back to the appearance you had before. You also don’t need to unlock Rinascita or the Version 2.0 story in order to access this function. Even if you just started playing, or are returning to the game, you can change your appearance if you don’t like the way you look anymore.

What differences are there between genders in Wuthering Waves?

Like in Fate/Grand Order, there aren’t any real differences between the male or female apperances for Rover in Wuthering Waves. They don’t have a different fighting style or stats. There aren’t many differences in their animations or dialogue options either. When deciding which gender you want your Rover, you should consider:

  • Which appearance you prefer
  • The character interactions you want to see
  • Voice acting

These are all minor aesthetics changes, so choosing one over the other won’t drastically alter your experience in the game. As mentioned earlier, this change isn’t permanent, either. So if you decide down the road that you want to go back to your original appearance, you can always do so from the menu.

Wuthering Waves is available on the PS5, Windows PC, and mobile devices.
