Final Fantasy XIV has many different types of fish for you to catch and collect. The Mudfish is one fish you can get in FFXIV in some of the Dawntrail areas of the MMO. Mudfish is quite common, but only if you know where to look and if you are the right level to be able to reel it in.

Where to Catch Mudfish in FFXIV
There are two main ways to get a Mudfish: catch it or buy it. If you want to buy one, just head to the Market Board. Fortunately, you can usually get this common fish there for a cheap price. But if you are leveling up your Fisher or just like the idea of catching things yourself, you are going to want to head to Yak T’el.
More specifically, you will need to progress far enough in the main scenario to be able to access the southern half of Yak T’el. It is here in The Ja Tiika Heartland that you are able to find this fish pretty much anywhere there is water. That said, my personal recommendation is Cenote Neyozzote around X: 25.4, Y: 27.3. This is just northwest of Mamook. I recommend being at least Fisher level 95 to catch Mudfish.

What to Use Mudfish for
As for what to use Mudfish for, you have a couple of distinct options in FFXIV. Oddly enough, it is not really used in any particular crafting recipe, like what Culinarians have. That said, you are able to desynthesize the Mudfish and obtain some base items from it. You can also sell your Mudfish on the Market Board; just don’t expect to get much.
Next, you are able to print Mudfish on small canvasses if you want to preserve it that wya. The final option is to use this common fish to get rarer fish in the Yak T’el area. This is perhaps the most common use for Mudfish. Since it is so common, it can be sacrificed when caught to catch some of the better and more valuable fish in Yak T’el.
Final Fantasy XIV is available right now for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
