How to Catch a Blue Widow While Fishing in FFXIV

Final Fantasy XIV has so many different fish for players to catch when they take on the Fisher gathering job class. One rare, but highly sought-after, fish in the game is the Blue Widow. If you are looking to add this to your collection, here is the best place to go and bait to use for the Blue Widow in FFXIV.

Where do I catch a Blue Widow in FFXIV?

It all starts with where you should go if you would like to catch a Blue Widow in this MMO. You need to be at least level 50 and be able to catch a three-star rarity fish. However, I highly suggest at least reaching level 57 to unlock Fish Eyes. (More on this in a bit!)

You can catch a Blue Widow at the following location:

• North Shroud (Murmur Rills): Around X: 26.3, Y: 24.8

However, there is a catch with this suggestion (no pun intended). You are only able to catch Blue Widow naturally here when the in-game time is between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Eorzean time. This is the time in the server itself and not your current local time, which can differ.

What is the best bait to use for a Blue Widow?

Once you arrive at the North Shroud to catch the Blue Widow in FFXIV, the key is what method and bait you use. The bait we highly recommend for this fish is the Floating Minnow. It is possible you could get this fish with other bait, but we don’t recommend it.

Now, while Blue Widow usually is a time-sensitive catch, you can get around this by using Fish Eyes. This action is unlocked at level 57 Fisher. With it, you can catch this fish at any time and not just for its short five-hour window. You also want to use Chum before each cast to help with catching it. Only reel in the three exclamation point hooks (noted as “!!!”), as they are the only way to get Blue Widow.
