The launch of Astro Bot is only a few days away now. As a treat for fans, Team Asobi has updated Astro’s Playroom with a special bot each month. By delving back into Astro’s Playroom and collecting these special bots, you can carry them over to your starting crew in Astro Bot. The fourth and last special bot, an Ape Escape Bot, has finally arrived at Astro’s Playroom. This guide explains how to capture the Special Ape Bot in Astro’s Playroom for Astro Bot.
Before attempting to get any of the special bots, ensure you have the latest version (1.903.000) of Astro’s Playroom installed on your PS5. This update should not take too long, as the size is approximately 800 MB.
Where to find the Special Ape Bot In Astro’s Playroom
You will want to transport to Memory Meadow and enter the stage Gusty Gateway. When you first start the level, you will want to pull the cables ahead of you to make a tightrope appear. Repeat this process again with the second bunch of cables you come across on the second island. After this, head back to the beginning of the level, and there will be another set of cables on the left side. Pull these cables, and you will obtain a container-like object.
Carry this container until you pass the second tightrope. To the side of the island, there is an Ape Escape easter egg, as a bot is wearing a monkey helmet. You will want to throw the container towards the clouds by this easter egg. The screenshot above shows you exactly where to throw the container. After you have successfully done this action, the Special Ape Bot will appear, but the bot will be locked in a mini pod.
How to capture the Special Ape Bot In Astro’s Playroom
You will have to grab some bananas to entice the Special Ape Bot to leave the pod. From this spot, continue heading upwards as if you’re playing the level usually. You will eventually come across a cloud in the shape of a PS1. Jump onto this cloud and jump up the rock ledges. In front of you will be a tree. Hit this tree several times, and some bananas will drop. We have provided a screenshot below of the location of the tree.
With the bananas, head back to where the Special Ape Bot is, and there will be a mini platform with a button. The bananas will disappear when you jump onto the button, and the Special Ape Bot will begin dancing. You must match the Ape Bot dances to get him to leave the pod. Unfortunately, which dances the Ape Bot will perform is random, but if you fail to match the corresponding dances, just grab another set of bananas from the tree and jump on the button to try again.
Here is how to perform each dance:
- Up on the D-pad is The Floss (The Backpack Kid)
- Down on the D-pad is The Irish Dance (Ceili Dancing)
- Left on the D-pad is The Carlton Dance (The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air)
- Right on the D-pad is The Staying Alive Dance (Saturday Night Fever)
After you have done this successfully, the Special Ape Bot will leave the pod, and you can capture him, which will also unlock the No Escape! trophy.
Astro Bot will be available for PS5 on September 6.
