Many Palworld players are trying to figure out how to breed Astegon as he’s one of the toughest Pals in the game to catch. Here is everything you need to know about breeding Astegon in Palworld.
Palworld Breeding Astegon
If you are like me, you almost fainted the first time you encountered Astegon as a level 48 Alpha Boss in Palworld. The terrifying Dragon-type Pal is not only one of the most difficult encounters in the game, but it’s almost impossible to catch it unless you have a Legendary Sphere and a high catch power. However, many players are getting around this by using the game’s breeding feature.
To breed Astegon in Palworld, you need to craft a Breeding Farm at level 19 and assign two pals to it, such as a Male Pyrin Noct and a Female Suzaku. Knowing the correct breeding combo is half the battle, though, as the whole process is pretty lengthy and has several moving parts.
Below are the steps you need to take to breed Astegon:
- Get to level 19 and craft the Breeding Farm after unlocking it in your Technology menu.
- Craft a Cooking Pot at level 17 at your base camp.
- Use the Cooking Pot to bake a Cake.
- Catch two pals that can breed Astegon. Next, assign them to the breeding farm. For this guide, we will use a male Pyrin Noct and a female Suzaku as examples.
- Place the cake in the box that is attached to the Breeding Farm.
- Wait four minutes until the breeding meter is filled up.
- A Huge Dragon Egg should then appear.
- Pick up the Huge Dragon Egg and place it in an Egg Incubator at camp, and wait for it to hatch.
Unlock the Breeding Farm
You first unlock the Breeding Farm starting at level 19. Once you reach this level, use your Technology Points to unlock the structure in your Technology menu. You will now have to craft it using the following resources:
- 100 Wood.
- 20 Stone.
- 50 Fiber.
Unlock the Cooking Pot
At level 17, you can unlock the Cooking Pot in your Technology Menu with a few Technology Points. Thankfully, the culinary device is fairly easy to build. Craft the Cooking Pot with the resources listed here:
- 20 Wood.
- 15 Ingot.
- 3 Flame Organ (which can be picked up from Foxparks).
Bake a Cake
Baking a Cake isn’t too difficult, although it does require a few items to create. The main ingredients you will need to track down are Milk and Honey. For the first resource, you can check out our guide on how to get milk in Palworld. Here is what you need to bake a cake:
- 5 Flour.
- 8 Red Berries.
- 7 Milk.
- 8 Egg.
- 2 Honey.
The quickest way to get Honey, though, is to warp to the Cinnamoth Forest fast travel point. Once here, catch or kill as many Cinnamoth as possible, as they all drop Honey. You can find the exact map location for Cinnamoth Forest below:
Using the Breeding Farm
Once you have your Cake made, head over to your Breeding Farm and select the two Pal that you are going to use to breed Astegon. For the full list of Pal that can be used to breed Astegon, check out the next section of the guide below.
For this example, we will be using a Male Pyrin Noct and a Female Suzaku. Walk up to the Pal and lift them. Carry them over to the Breeding Farm and throw them inside. This will automatically assign them to the Breeding Farm.
Once you have both Pal inside the Breeding Farm, walk to the side of the structure and look for a wooden Box. Go up to it and interact with it, which will give you a menu where you can drop your cake inside. After you put the dessert item in the box, you should see your breeding meter go up, which will eventually lead to a Huge Dragon Egg appearing.
Hatch Astegon Egg
The final step is fairly simple. Pick up the Huge Dragon Egg from the Breeding Farm, and go take it to an Egg Incubator in camp. If you haven’t unlocked the Egg Incubator yet, you can obtain it in the Technology Menu by spending 2 Ancient Technology Points.
Place the Huge Dragon Egg in the Incubator and wait an hour for it to hatch into Astegon. The time it takes to hatch will vary depending on the World Settings for each player. In some instances, it might take 5 hours to hatch. For others, it will be completed instantly. If you don’t want to wait too long, you can go to the game’s main menu and change your Egg hatch rate in the World Settings options.
Palworld Astegon Breeding Combos
There are over seven breeding combos that create Astegon in Palworld. As mentioned earlier, one of your Pal needs to be Male, while the other has to be Female. It doesn’t matter which one is which, you just need both to make it work.
Below are the Astegon Breeding Combos in Palworld:
- Blazamut x Elizabee.
- Cryolinx x Grizzbolt.
- Pyrin Noct x Suzaku.
- Blazamut x Reptyro.
- Blazamut x Mammorest.
- Pyrin Noct x Shadowbeak.
Astegon Palworld location
For those who want to catch the Dragon-type rather than breed it, finding the Pals lair can be a little tricky. Astegon is located in the Destroyed Mineshaft in Mount Obsidian. However, the boss arena is tucked away in the side of the mountain and can be easy to miss.
You can find the exact route to find Astegon on the map below:
The quickest way to find him is to warp to the Mount Obsidian Midpoint fast travel point. Use one of the flying mounts in Palworld and then head west to the spot on the map above. Once here look for an opening in the side of the mountain. Once you get close enough, “Destroyed Mineshaft” should pop up on your screen.
Enter the opening of the mountain and then walk down the cavern until you reach a giant arena. Here you will find the towering Astegon Alpha Boss, who spawns in at level 48. Be careful, as the Dragon-type is incredibly difficult to beat.
I don’t recommend taking on Astegon until you are at least level 45. And even then, you might struggle. It’s also recommended that you bring Ice-type Pals into the encounter, as Astegon is weak to cryo attacks. To catch it, you will need a Legendary Sphere and high catching power stat. Honestly, it’s much easier to just breed Astegon in Palworld.
Palworld is now available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
