How to Befriend Red XIII in FF7 Rebirth

There are two main ways to raise your relationship with Red XIII, which you can check at any time by pressing L1 while in the world. Every character, including Red XIII, has a smiley face icon above their head. There are five stages to the bond system, with the fourth stage necessary to get the Gold Saucer date. You can also get the intimate version of the date by reaching the strongest bond, which is the fifth and final one.

Conversations

The first way to raise your relationship with Red XIII is to make the right conversation options when talking to him at certain moments. Every once in a while, especially in moments like the beach gathering or when spread out in a town in story moments, you can talk to Red XIII and pick something to say to him.

You are timed here, so save beforehand when possible. When in doubt, pick an option that agrees with him and avoid any answers that are mean or negative. Also, you want to pick him during certain story moments as well, such as fighting alongside him during the Hojo beach boss battle in the Costa del Sol.
