How to Beat Stage 5 and Unlock the Owl Dagger in Holocure

With the 0.7 Update, new weapons and items have been added to Holocure, one of which is the unassuming Owl Dagger weapon. While unlocking the weapon isn’t complicated it can be difficult, so here’s how to Unlock the Owl Dagger in Holocure.

How to Unlock the Owl Dagger Weapon and in Holocure and What it Does

The Owl Dagger itself is a simple weapon, slashing quickly in front of your character multiple times. Where it gets interesting is when you collab it with either the Psycho Axe or the EN’s Curse items, which can either increase its speed even more or turn it into a mass damage-over-time effect respectively. Because it’s so fast, it may also find use with characters that rely on inflicting status effects.

If you go into the achievements menu of Holocure you’ll be able to find the unlock requirements for the Owl Dagger next to its symbol, though the name will be hidden. The objective is simple, defeat the final boss of Fantasy Island, the newly added Stage 5 of Holocure. To get the boss to appear you will have to survive 20 minutes in Stage Mode before slaying it, which can be difficult depending on how many coins and skills you have accrued over your playtime.

Before embarking on your quest to beat Fantasy Island, make sure to visit the shop to look over any upgrades. Damage and Movement bonuses are a high priority, with health and other survivability a close second. You’ll likely want to disable any of the optional challenges like limited weapons or more enemies, but things like special attacks or the newly added equipment abilities can all help. Finally, you’ll want to use the character you’re most comfortable with but ideally also one with a lot of bonuses from gacha duplicates and Fandom levels.

The key to any Survivors-like is a solid start. Waste no time in killing the firest few enemies and prioritize upgrading either your main weapon or powerful damaging skills, since the mobs will only get tougher from here. You’ll need to get to the point where you can clean out enemies as quickly as possible, as if your damage falls behind you’ll be too busy running away to actually pick up any experience you do earn.

Stage 5 is most similar to Holocure‘s Stage 2 in that it is a long, rectangular level rather than an open field, just vertical instead of horizontal this time. Be careful running up and down as there are large ship cannons on alternating sides that fire as you get close, which can catch you out as you focus on avoiding other enemies. Enemies to watch out for this early are the explosive Nousagis (rabbits) and the Ichimi (pirates) with pistols, as the latter have a ranged attack. Otherwise the main difficulty is that foes on this level are very tough and take a while to kill.

At 10 minutes the mid-boss will spawn. This one isn’t too bad as their abilities are fairly kite-able. The biggest attack will be a stream of flame from its mouth that can deal a lot of damage quickly if it hits, but can otherwise be avoided by strafing around the boss. Make sure not to fall afoul of the ship cannons as you do this, however.

The final boss of Stage 5 in Holocure spawns at 20 minutes, and this one is a lot more mobile. It has a ranged attack that fixes on you and has a very fast charge, but the blast itself is slow travelling enough to avoid as long as you aren’t too close. It will also launch several salvos of missiles that will land in clusters, which feel tricky but will often fire around or ahead of you instead of directly on you. If you panic you’ll likely run into them, so just stay calm and move out of their fairly small blast radius. Because the boss is very mobile, long ranged or damage-over-time weapons are useful and we’ve even had some limited success slowing or stunning it with the Freeze and Pacifist stamps. Failing that, weapons that hit a large area or don’t require aiming are useful so you can prioritize surviving over making sure you’re hitting the boss. Slay Pekodam, and the Owl Dagger will be added to your collection in Holocure.
