Lyranodon is the boss that players will face off against in the Ancient Mountain Path area leading up to the royal capital city in Fantasian. This particular boss fight is one of the toughest in the entire JRPG, especially up until this point in the story. There are several mechanics and enemies to worry about in the Lyranodon boss fight, so here is how to beat it.
Lyranodon Boss Fight Mechanics, Explained
Lyranodon can be the hardest boss in the entire game if you don’t realize the tricky mechanic behind it. But if you do figure it out early enough, this can arguably be one of the easiest bosses in the entire JRPG. I found out at the last second how to do this fight, so avoid risking everything including 30 minutes of playtime like I did.
Lyranodon uses lightning attacks and summons a couple of Orbling minions at the start. These minions don’t attack you but rather charge up Lyranodon. Every four times that Lyranodon is charged up, he will use his most powerful attack. Not only is this party-wide attack hard to survive on its own, but it knocks your team back a bit. After a few knockbacks, your team will fall off the cliff and die. This is the crux of this fight.
How to Defeat Lyranodon in Fantasian Neo Dimension
How you beat the Lyranodon boss fight in Fantasian has to do with taking advantage of this boss’ notable flaws. The first is the most important one: the minions charging him up. If you’re like me, you’ll probably try to take them out first before they charge the boss. This works at first when there are two of them. However, take them out and he just summons six more, which becomes nearly impossible.
So, the goal here is to have Zinikr use his Taunt skill on all of them. This will make the Orblings target him with their lightning skills, rather than the boss and not charge him up. Additionally, I recommend having him Guard and buff his defense. From there, it is all about the rest of the party using Earth skills or items. This is what Lyranodon is weak to. Keep this system up of Taunt, Guard, then Earth skills and this fight will be so much easier than it would be otherwise.
Fantasian: Neo Dimension is available right now for Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
