After completing “The Priestess, Abducted” in Unicorn Overlord, you can choose where to head next. Drakenhold means unlocking the in-game arena. Which means if you play enough, you can take part in single-player or asynchronous online Unicorn Overlord Coliseum battle.
How do I unlock the Baumratte Coliseum and its offline and online elements in Unicorn Overlord?
First, you need to get through quite a bit of the Drakenhold storyline. This means getting through “The Kingdom of Dragons” and “Another Prince” Main quests. Immediately after “Another Prince” ends, some story segments will come up that reveal the Coliseum is open. You can then take part whenever you’d like.
Head to Baumratte. Select the Coliseum in the city menu when you visit. You will be taken to a screen that lets you choose Offline Battle, Online Battle, or Prize Exchange. You earn Coliseum Coins for competing, which can be redeemed here for items at the exchange.
While the Offline Battle is always available, the Online Battle is limited to online.
How do I fight online in the Unicorn Overlord Coliseum?
First, select the Online Battle section. From there, I recommend putting together your Defense Settings. Press the corresponding button for it. (It is the plus one on the Switch.) You choose Select Defensive Unit to choose which one will appear online for friends and strangers to fight. This will be one of your preset formations, and classes like Paladin and Werewolf are forbidden from competing. You can also edit your Heraldry, personal icon, and Battle Cry, but those are cosmetic and optional.
With that set, you can now head into a Ranked Match or Friend Match. You need to compete a certain number of times to get ranked. Also, matches against friends who also own the game don’t count toward your “score.” While your Defensive Unit is preset, you can use any one of your preset units available for your Ranked Match battles. You get points and Coliseum Coins for each win. The bottom of the screen in this menu will also always show how long the current Ranking Results Period will last.
Each day, you can take part in 10 battles. If you hit the maximum, you get 200 Coliseum Coins.
What are the best items in the Unicorn Overlord Prize Exchange?
Well, all of the absolute best items tend to start around 500 Coliseum Coins. So it could take a few days or rounds to earn some really great pieces of equipment.
Here are the items I most recommend picking up:
- Alminster Bow for 1,000 CC – The two AP Checkmate is great, since it seals an enemy’s passives. If your enemy is below 50% HP, it is guaranteed to seal.
- Aurora Ring for 2,000 CC – The two PP Mighty Shield ability keeps an ally from being damaged from one attack.
- Black Cat-Ear Hood for 1,000 CC – The four PP Quick Impetus move is costly, but letting an ally act again is great. Plus, it increases base PP by one.
- Elite Standard for 2,000 CC – United Front costs one PP and gives the full unit debuffs based on number of enemies minus number of allies. So if your enemy unit has five and your unit has two, you negate attacks up to five hits. (If there’s a difference of one, there’s +30 Initiative, and a difference of two means +50% defense.)
- Hero’s Greatshield for 2,000 CC – Its Invincible two PP ability negates one attack, and the shield also boosts PP by one and guard efficiency by 50%.
- Phoenix’s Plume for 2,000 CC – Reincarnation costs three AP. It revives a fallen ally with 1 HP and negates one attack against them. This means there’s a chance for another unit member to heal them up.
- Purifier Staff for 500 CC – Sacred Cure is a great one PP move, as it removes debuffs from a row and makes all of the people in that row immune to one.
Unicorn Overlord is available for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
