In Starfield, the game’s default field-of-view settings might be too zoomed in for some players. What are the options you have to change your visual range in Bethesda’s Space RPG? Well, if you’re on the Xbox Series X, you have no options. But on the PC, you can have some recourse. Here is how to adjust Starfield FOV ona PC.
How do I change my FOV in Starfield?
If you are playing Starfield and thinking the game looks too zoomed in, you aren’t alone! While not every player will notice it, the up-close visuals might be a problem for some. This might especially be an issue for those utilizing the game’s FPS mode while using a Starfield Weapon in combat. Unfortunately, Starfield has launched without field-of-view options on the Xbox Series X. To change FOV in Starfield, you will need to play it on the PC. However, even on Windows, you will need to manually add your field-of-view adjustments by making some quick changes to your game file.
Below, I have provided the file path to access your Starfield folder and the steps you need to take to adjust your FOV:
- Documents > My Games > Starfield
- Create a text file and name it “StarfieldCustom.ini”
- Inside the text file, add the following (replace 100 with your desired FOV):
[Camera]fFPWorldFOV=100.0000
fTPWorldFOV=100.0000
And that’s it! While not ideal, it’s a pretty straightforward solution. There is also a second option that requires you modding your game. Over at Nexus Mods, there are many Starfield FOV slider mods. Unfortunately, console players will have to hang tight and continue to wait. Hopefully, a future update from Bethesda will officially add field-of-view options to the space RPG.
Starfield is available for the Xbox Series X and PC.
