Pokemon Scarlet & Violet The Indigo Disk DLC introduces a ton of game-changing mechanics, including a brand 19th Tera Type: Stellar. Here is everything you need to know about how the Stellar Tera Type works in The Indigo Disk.
Stellar Tera Type Explained
The Stellar Tera Type is the 19th Tera Type in The Indigo Disk, but it is not the official 19th overall typing for the series. Instead, it acts somewhat like an omni-type for Terastallization. When you normally Terastallize, you gain a boost to the moves that match the typing of your current Terastal form. For instance, if you Terastallize as a Fighting-type, your Fighting-type moves are more powerful.
However, if you use the Stellar Tera Type, it affects everything. It grants a boost to any typing and any move, but only once per move type. What this means is let’s say you have a Fighting-type move and you have the Stellar Tera Type. It will only boost the power of that Fighting move once. From that point forward, you will need to use other move types, such as Water, to continue having a boost.
The exception to this are Tera Raid Battles, which have no limit to how much you can boost a move type, so Stellar is super important for them.
How to Get Pokemon With the Stellar Tera Type
There are two main ways to get a Pokemon with the Stellar Tera Type. The first is to catch one with this Tera Type automatically available for it. To do this, you need to first beat The Indigo Disk DLC and roll credits. From that point forward, rainbow Pokemon will appear in the Terrarium with the Stellar Tera Type.
The other way is to visit the Treasure Eatery in Medali in the Paldea region. Speak with the chef here to trade over Stellar Tera Shards to give the Stellar Type to one of your Pokemon. You can get Stellar Tera Shards randomly on the ground and from rainbow Pokemon in Area Zero.
Pokemon Scarlet & Violet and The Indigo Disk DLC are available exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
