How long does it take to beat God of War Ragnarök Valhalla DLC?

Well, the answer really depends on what you feel gives a game longevity. The God of War Ragnarök Valhalla DLC is more of an “epilogue” for the story. It doesn’t necessarily follow a huge narrative and instead offers up a shift in the gameplay loop.

Instead of the typical hack n’ slash fair, Valhalla opts for a roguelike approach. Kratos finds himself in Valhalla, stripped of his upgraded gear, and forced to face repeated “runs” while upgrading his power each time. This plays similarly to games like Hades, emphasizing perfecting these loops and getting stronger. However, the core combat remains as refined as ever.

Because of this, it’s hard to really say how long the God of War Ragnarök Valhalla DLC is. There’s a huge skill component, meaning an hour of gameplay for one player may be three or more for another. However, the main meat of Valhalla clocks in somewhere in the area of five and 10 hours.

However keep in mind with multiple difficulty options, trophies, and unlockable costumes, the DLC could be a lot longer depending on how much time you want to put into it. Completionists could easily spend a dozen hours or more with Valhalla. For a free DLC, the content on offer is a tremendous addition to God of War Ragnarök.

It’s not a traditional story DLC, but there’s plenty to play around with. Also, for the value, you really can’t beat it. As a warning for those wishing to tackle the God of War Ragnarök Valhalla DLC, you may want to clear the story mode first.

God of War Ragnarök is available now exclusively on Playstation 4 and 5.
