What Is Hitscan in Fortnite?

Hitscan is one of the most powerful features for weapons in a multiplayer game like this one. Hitscan basically works where there is no downtime whatsoever when you fire a weapon. If you fire a gun of any kind with Hitscan, its bullets will instantly hit the place where you were targeting.

The most notable way to think of this is long-range weapons like sniper rifles. If you’ve used a sniper rifle in battle royale before, you know the bullets take time to fly across the map in real-time and hit the location you fired at. This isn’t how it works with Hitscan. You fire away and it instantly hits, so it is incredibly accurate and helpful.

All Hitscan Weapons, Explained

The best part about Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1 is Epic Games is fully embracing Hitscan. The game has certainly toyed around with this gameplay feature in the past, like in Chapter 2 Remix, but now it is a seemingly permanent feature. All of the traditional weapons in Chapter 6 use Hitscan. Every regular assault rifle, shotgun, pistol, SMG, and so on.

This also includes any variants of them, from the regular old uncommon weapons to the rare ones, legendary weapons, and even some Mythic guns. It may take some practice to get used to Hitscan with the weapons in Chapter 6 if you have been a long-time Fortnite player, especially since you don’t have to worry about the delay anymore, but it is overall a vast improvement.

Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1 is available right now for Android, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
