How Does Wonder Pick Works in Pokemon TCG Pocket

One of the unique and defining features of Pokemon TCG Pocket is Wonder Pick. This is similar in nature to Wonder Trade from the core mainline series, but it comes with its own quirks. If you want to be able to get free cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket, it is worth understanding Wonder Pick and how to get your Wonder Stamina up.

What is Wonder Pick?

If you played the core mainline Pokemon titles, you may know the fun multiplayer trading feature known as Wonder Trade. Wonder Pick is somewhat similar to Wonder Trade in the idea you get something free from someone else. But you don’t actually have to trade for it. How it works is your friends and even strangers online will open up card packs.

They’ll get five cards as always from the card packs they open. This feature shows you recent cards your friends and other players found in their packs. You can then spend points to pick one of the five cards they got. The catch is you won’t know which card of the five you get until you spend the point(s) to get it. The rarer the card selection, the more stamina points you have to spend.

How do I get Wonder Pick stamina back in Pokemon TCG Pocket?

The other catch with the Wonder Pick system in Pokemon TCG Pocket is the Wonder Stamina. You get five stamina points in total at max. It takes quite a bit of time in real-time for your points to replenish. So, you can wait until they return to pick cards from friends and other players or you can spend the in-game currency Wonder Hourglass to get some instantly.

You can get Wonder Hourglasses from completing missions, leveling up, and other activities. What you have to worry about, though, is every player’s Wonder Pick selection has a timer. If it runs out, you’ll also have to spend a Rewind Watch to have the chance to pick.

If you don’t like the idea of sharing the cards you open online with others, you can turn this feature off in the settings. However, I don’t recommend this. You don’t lose the cards your friends pick and you can get thanks, too. Thanks you receive gives you Shop Tickets, so it pays to leave this on.

Pokemon TCG Pocket is available right now for free for Android and iOS.
