Square Enix is always prone to making massive changes to job classes in Final Fantasy XIV. For better or worse (that’s ultimately up to you), there is a massive new change for Ninja players. The Dokumori skill works completely differently now for Ninja players in FFXIV Patch 7.1.
When Do You Unlock Dokumori for Ninja?
Ninja players unlock the Dokumori skill at level 66. This is exactly the same as before. As you may know, you will need to change from Rogue to Ninja to be able to acquire this particular job skill. So, don’t be one of those infamous players who doesn’t get their Job Crystal or equip it once they have it. At level 66 Ninja, you will be able to use Dokumori.
How Dokumori Works Now for Ninja in FFXIV Patch 7.1
The Dokumori skill works completely differently in FFXIV Patch 7.1 and onward compared to before. In the past, how the skill worked was players would use Dokumori and it would be a single target skill. This meant it was pretty limited in its scope. You could use it against a single target like a boss in a dungeon or Trial but that was it.
Thankfully, the changes to Dokumori now mean it is able to do so much more. Instead of being a single target skill, it is now a cone AOE (area of effect) attack. The cone includes a short distance in front of the player of about eight yards. Every enemy in that cone will be hit by Dokumori.
How it works is the first enemy hit by Dokumori will take damage equal to a potency of 300 but all of the other enemies will receive 25% less damage than the initial one. In addition, it debuffs the target enemy with 5% more damage taken for 20 seconds. You also have a chance of dropping additional items from the enemy. Finally, Dokumori increases your Ninki Gauge by 30 and grants you Higi.
Final Fantasy XIV is available right now for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
