How Does Each Kind of Neko Atsume 2 Food Work?

There are lots of variations in food to buy in Neko Atsume 2, but what’s the difference and is there any point in purchasing the more expensive options? Here’s a breakdown of the different kibble you can feed the cats in the game, as well as what, if anything, changes when you use them.

What kinds of food should I use in Neko Atsume 2?

In total, you can get seven different kinds of food in Neko Atsume 2. They are:

  • Thrifty Bitz: Free
  • Frisky Bitz: 30 silver fish for 3
  • Ritzy Bitz: 3 gold fish for 1 OR 7 gold fish for 3
  • Bonito Bitz: 7 gold fish for 1 OR 17 gold fish for 3
  • Deluxe Tuna Bitz: 12 gold fish for 1 OR 30 gold fish for 3
  • Sashimi: 5 gold fish for 1 OR 12 gold fish for 3
  • Sashimi Boat: 750 silver fish OR 50 gold fish

For kibble that you can buy in bulk, you get a little more bang than your buck. For example, buying 3 Ritzy Bitz separately would set you back 9 gold fish. However, buying in bulk can let you save 2 gold fish. It’s nothing to scoff at; 2 gold fish can be the difference between you and a fancy new yard expansion.

So why bother even buying kibble when you can use Thrifty Bitz for free? There are two main benefits to buying at least a Ritzy Bitz. For one thing, you can get rarer cats this way. Some cats literally do not show up unless you pull out the fancy feast. Tubbs exists in the world of Neko Atsume 2 though, so you might want to hold onto your gold fish until you can add interior space and keep it out. If you don’t, that cat could devour all of your more expensive type of food and keep the rarer cats from appearing.

The second reason as to why you might want to use fancier food is speed. Cats flock to your yard faster when you have fancier food in the bowl. This means that you can earn more silver or gold fish per day, albeit you might have to open up your game more often as well to take advantage of that. I recommend using the cheap kibble (maybe the occasional splurge on Ritzy Bitz to attract more and rare cats) until you can at least renovate the yard. Then you can purchase the more expensive ones and set them inside where Tubbs can’t get to the bowl.

Neko Atsume 2 is readily available on mobile devices.
