Shion went on an indefinite hiatus in December 2023, and her last stream on YouTube was seven months ago. There wasn’t a lot of information when she announced her hiatus. It might have been for health reasons though, since she said that she wanted to meet with everyone after she became “super-duper” healthy.

She also stated at the time that she may appear at times even during her break for appearances she’d scheduled in advance. Her X (formerly known as Twitter) account has been inactive since then. However, Shion did make a comment about Minato Aqua’s departure, stating that she’s glad she met Aqua and that Aqua’s graduation wouldn’t affect their friendship.

As of the time of writing, Murasaki Shion has over 1.21 million subscribers on her YouTube channel. She debuted as part of the second generation back in 2018. Other VTubers who debuted alongside her include the aforementioned Minato Aqua, as well as Oozora Subaru and Nakiri Ayame.

Murasaki Shion will return on August 17, 2024, though it’s hard to tell at this point if she will resume her normal schedule.
