Vtuber agency Hololive announced that it terminated its contract with the streamer Yozora Mel due to her leaking insider information to third parties. The streamer was part of Hololive’s first Japanese generation and had been with the company for over five and a half years.
The statement from Hololive and its parent company Cover states that the contract was terminated on January 16, 2024 with agreement from the talent herself. The company plans to close her Youtube channel and membership by the end of February 2024, when it is likely that her archived streams and music videos will become unavailable. This was the case with previous contract terminations involving Uruha Rushia and Hitomi Chris.
Her fellow first gen members Shirakami Fubuki, Akai Haato, Natsuiro Matsuri and Aki Rosenthal also released a Youtube video expressing their thoughts on the matter. Meanwhile, Mel herself released a comment on her Twitter account, wherein she expressed regret for her actions and apologized to her fans.
