The Nintendo Switch version of Hollow Knight won’t be coming to the console in 2017 as originally expected. Instead, it is being pushed back to early 2018. Team Cherry noted that the port needs a little more time to be sure it meets expectations.
When discussing the reason for the Hollow Knight delay, Team Cherry said that the priority was to ensure a great port. Since this was the developer’s first project, there were some optimization issues, which has required some fixes. This means the Nintendo Switch version will be the best possible version of the game at launch, with the updates on it coming to the PC versions eventually as well.
Hollow Knight is immediately available on the PC and will come to the Nintendo Switch in 2018. Team Cherry notes it is also looking into bringing the game to other consoles, but has no news to announce at the moment.
