Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Avalanche Software kicked off January 13, 2021 with a Hogwarts Legacy delay announcement on Twitter. The game, which would act as a prequel to the Harry Potter series and allow people to attend an 1800s Hogwarts, will not appear in 2021 as planned. The new release window is 2022.
There was no explanation offered for the Hogwarts Legacy delay. Rather, the message only cited a desire to offer players the best possible experience. Here is the full statement.
We would like to thank fans from around the world on the tremendous reaction to the announcement of Hogwarts Legacy from our Portkey Games label. Creating the best possible experience for all of the Wizarding World and gaming fans is paramount to us, so we are giving the game the time it needs.
Hogwarts Legacy will be released in 2022.
This Harry Potter world RPG was rumored for quite some time before appearing during a PS5 showcase in September 2020. Since then, the official Twitter account has shared brief video clips and screenshots, but there haven’t been any major announcements. The last video clip, which was shared back in November 2020, looked at an in-game duel.
