Over the last few days, a number of Death Stranding teases were shared on Twitter. Hideo Kojima, the game’s creator, took a build to Guerrilla Games to show what they had done with that developer’s Decima Engine. Now, we have a better idea of how much was shown, how far along development is, and even when the game might be released, and it is all thanks to a number of different Twitter updates.
This all began on January 15, 2019, when Guerrilla Games Co-Founder and Managing Director Hermen Hulst shared two pictures on Twitter. Hulst noted that in 2016, his studio gave Kojima Productions the Decima Engine that would be used to make Death Stranding, and now Kojima had come back to show them a gameplay demo.
Three years ago we gave @KojiPro2015_EN a copy of our @DecimaEngine in this box. Today @HIDEO_KOJIMA_EN came back to @Guerrilla to show us the incredible things he’s making with it in #DeathStranding. So impressed! pic.twitter.com/8dLpdIh1bI

Kojima then shared images on Twitter of Guerrilla team members and thanked them for their help.
On Jan 26 2016 I 1st visited Guerrilla Games. Back then I just established Kojima Productions, had no office, machine or engine, only few staffs working. Guerrilla’s proposition of support to me in that circumstances has developed a stronger bond(strand) over the last 3 years. pic.twitter.com/7Czb8gRwSb

After that, Aki Saito, Kojima Productions Head of Marketing & Communication, tweeted out more details about the Death Stranding demo shown to Guerrilla Games and the project’s status. Hulst and his team were shown the first two hours. Saito noted the game wasn’t complete "yet."
Showed the first 2 hours of gameplay to our Guerrilla brothers. Yes, Hideo was demonstrating it! (The game is not fully completed…yet)

However, one of Troy Baker’s most recent tweets may provide the most interesting tease of all. A 10 Year Challenge meme is going around the internet, with people showing pictures of themselves in 2009 and 2019. Baker posted a picture of Snow, the Final Fantasy XIII character he voiced, next to a picture of The Man in the Golden Mask, the role he plays in Death Stranding. This suggests Death Stranding may be a 2019 PlayStation 4 release.
