Hideo Kojima, the creator of Death Stranding and the Metal Gear series, is starting a new podcast exclusively on Spotify. Hideo Kojima presents Brain Structure will “shed light” and “deep-dive into the brain” of the popular game developer. The podcast series will start on September 8, 2022, with episodes released every Thursday. The series will be available in both Japanese and English.
Kojima is the founder of Kojima Productions, the game studio behind 2019’s Death Stranding. Previously, the creator worked at Konami to produce the Metal Gear series and other games. Kojima Productions became an independent studio in 2015, and Kojima has since branched out as a film and music critic for various publications. In late 2021, Kojima Productions also announced the opening of a new Music and TV division.
In addition to his game development and critic work, Kojima hosts Hideo Kojima’s Radioverse, a radio show on the Japanese Audible streaming service. The monthly radio show features Kojima discussing various creative works with special guests. In his announcement tweet, Kojima stated that fans would often bring up that they were unable to listen to the show due to the fact that it was only in Japanese, which led Kojima to create the new Spotify podcast for a global audience.
As I keep hearing from overseas fans that they can't listen to my radio show in their area or can't understand if it's only in Japanese!
So, we decided to try to provide both Japanese and English versions. It's a podcast that you can listen to easily, and I can also play music! pic.twitter.com/0EmIXExdMM— HIDEO_KOJIMA (@HIDEO_KOJIMA_EN) August 23, 2022
Notably, artist Shimoda Michiharu of the band Silent Poets composed the podcast’s theme song. Michiharu previously worked on Death Stranding. Furthermore, the podcast will be a Spotify original series, and will be exclusive to the streaming platform.
Hideo Kojima presents Brain Structure will be available exclusively on Spotify starting September 8, 2022. Episodes will be released every Thursday at 9 PM Japan Time (5 AM PST / 2 PM CEST). It will be available in English and Japanese.
