Japanese independent game developer HexaDrive has opened a recruitment page, revealing that it will participate in the development of Dragon Quest XII: The Flames of Fate. HexaDrive has previously worked on Square Enix games, which includes the likes of Final Fantasy XV and Final Fantasy Type-0 HD. Right now, the developer is looking for game designers, programmers, and environmental artists to work on Dragon Quest XII. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]
The Dragon Quest XII development recruitment listings were posted through the official HexaDrive Twitter account. The recruitment page details the requirements that potential employees will need to meet in order to apply. Applications are currently limited to those who are able to work within Japan. Additionally, it reveals that Dragon Quest XII will be developed using Unreal Engine 5.
Dragon Quest XII: The Flames of Fate was announced in May 2021. However, details regarding the title have been scarce. This includes a release date or any potential platforms it could appear on.
In an interview, Square Enix President Yosuke Matsuda revealed that Dragon Quest XII could potentially reflect the future of the Dragon Quest series for the next ten years. It was also revealed that this entry would have a “darker” tone from its previous installments.
