Is Honkai: Star Rail Multiplayer? Explained

Here’s How Honkai: Star Rail Supports Work

Given the multiplayer elements in past HoYoVerse games like Genshin Impact, people may wonder if Honkai: Star Rail allows cooperative or competitive activities too. It doesn’t. However, you can still add other players to a friend list and take advantage of them being active to help yourself along the way in the game.

There will be times when you can “borrow” a Honkai: Star Rail from someone on your friends list, but that’s as far as “multiplayer” experiences go in the game. Also, you don’t have to have friends to take advantage of this. In the beta, HoYoVerse also allowed someone to choose from other people who were online, offering a selection of random Support characters you could choose to ask for help when heading into certain sorts of dungeons.

As the betas have shown us, there should be two sorts of Honkai: Star Rail experiences with this Support “multiplayer” element. One is the Calyxes. When you go into one, you can get bonus items for building up your characters. So by taking on these challenges, you could earn extra Ascension materials, Credits, EXP materials, Light Cone EXP materials, and Trace materials for your characters and their equipment. There are also Cavern of Corrosion challenges that allowed for you to borrow someone else’s unit. These let you get Relics for your characters. Note that you can’t take part in either of these activities if you’re out of Trailblaze Power (stamina).

The Honkai: Star Rail PC and mobile release date is April 26, 2023, and it will eventually come to the PS4 and PS5 as well.
