We learned Nintendo was planning a Splatoon 2 Halloween event, Splatoween, on October 4, 2018. Now, people can call dibs on the four themed masks being given away in-game. Let’s take a look at how to get them and what each one has to offer.

To call dibs on the four Splatoon 2 Halloween masks, you need to be subscribed to the Squid Research Lab Report in the Nintendo Switch news section. The just-arrived October 5, 2018 post entitled “Free download! Celebrate Splatoween with this spooky in-game gear.” is the one you want to read. Open it and scroll to the bottom of the page. You will see a button that reads, “Happy Splatoween.” Click that when you are connected to the internet and have your copy of Splatoon 2 ready to play.

After you click the link and finish listening to Pearl and Marina’s Splatoween announcement, you will find yourself in front of a package. Opening it will give you the Anglerfish Mask, Hockey Mask, Kyonshi Mask, and Li’l Devil Horns. Each of these head items are three-star pieces of clothing with three skill slots to spill.

Here are the skills each of the Splatoon 2 Halloween masks come with.

  • Anglerfish Mask: Ink Saver (Main)
  • Hockey Mask: Ink Recovery Up
  • Kyonshi Mask: Ink Saver (Sub)
  • Lil’ Devil Horns: Run Speed Up
