In Honkai: Star Rail, there are many bosses you can defeat to farm materials for your characters. They’re split into Stagnant Shadows, which are always available, and Echoes of War, which you can only farm three times a week.

Here are all the Stagnant Shadow bosses in Honkai: Star Rail

Stagnant Shadow bosses are available on the map. You may need to clear a story mission before you can unlock certain ones. Once you interact with a Stagnant Shadow, you can treat it as a Teleport point, which is convenient for farming and for getting around the maps. In order to fight a Stagnant Shadow, you must have enough Trailblaze Energy (30) to collect materials from it.

  • Shape of Abomination (Scalegorge Waterscape)
    Drops Nail of the Ape, which you can use to ascend certain Quantum characters.
  • Shape of Blaze (Silvermane Guard Restricted Zone)
    Drops Endotherm Chitin, which you can use to ascend certain Fire characters.
  • Shape of Celestial (Alchemy Commission)
    Drops Ascendant Debris, which you can use to ascend certain Wind characters.
  • Shape of Doom (Stargazer Navalia)
    Drops Shape Shifter’s Lightning Staff, which you can use to ascend certain Lightning characters.
  • Shape of Fulmination (Corridor of Fading Echoes)
    Drops Lightning Crown of the Past Shadow, which you can use to ascend certain Lightning characters.
  • Shape of Gust (Rivet Town)
    Drops Storm Eye, which you can use to ascend certain Wind characters.

Here are all the Echo of War bosses in Honkai: Star Rail

You can only get rewards from an Echo of War boss three times per week. So plan which bosses you fight depending on who you want to build. You can still challenge these bosses after maxing out your weekly quota though. Aside from their unique Trace material, all Echo of War bosses drop the same. You’ll be able to get Relics from the Musketeer of Wild Wheat or Thief of Shooting Meteor Sets. There’s also a chance to obtain one of the 4-star Light Cones that are available in Forgotten Hall.

  • Borehole Planet’s Old Crater (Seclusion Zone)
    Drops Past Evils of the Borehole Planet Disaster, which you can use to level up Traces for characters like Ruan Mei and Xueyi.
  • Destruction’s Beginning (Supply Zone)
    Drops Destroyer’s Final Road, which you can use to level up Traces for characters like Jing Yuan and Himeko.
  • Divine Seed (Scalegorge Waterscape)
    Drops Regret of Infinite Ochema, which you can use to level up Traces for characters like Blade and Argenti.
  • End of the Eternal Freeze (Everwinter Hill)
    Drops Guardian’s Lament, which you can use to level up Traces for characters like Bronya and Luocha.
