Hatsune Miku: VR Future Live, the PlayStation VR-exclusive digital title, is releasing in the Americas and Europe on October 14, 2016 Sega announced at Gamescom 2016.
The upcoming virtual reality title puts players in the audience of a Vocaloid concert using the PlayStation VR headset. It features all kinds of stage performances and interactions fans will get to enjoy that wouldn’t be possible in reality.
Sega also clarified that Hatsune Miku: VR Future Live is a standalone app exclusive to PSVR. It is separate and completely different than the PSVR support that is headed to Hatsune Miku: Project Diva X as a free patch.
Additionally, fans attending Gamescom 2016 will get to try out a demo of Hatsune Miku: VR Future at the PlayStation booth, in hall 7.1, and will be open to the public throughout the show.
Here’s more from the press release:
Exclusive to PlayStation VR, the Hatsune Miku: VR Future Live bridges the gap between the physical world we live in and the digital world of Hatsune Miku in a completely immersive way. Leave the living room behind (figuratively speaking), as it transports players to a virtual stadium, fully immersing them in the crowd of Miku fans and going wild for the digital singer. As the lights dim and Miku gets ready to take the stage, the player’s controller transforms into a glow stick. When the show begins, players can keep time with the song by taking cues from the rest of the crowd waving their glow sticks, with the goal of cheering on Miku during the concert. As players encourage her, it builds up the voltage. Once the voltage reaches its climax, players will find themselves transported on stage for a special one-on-one encore performance with Miku!
Hatsune Miku: VR Future Live releases in Japan on October 13 for PlayStation VR. The game releases in the Americas and Europe the day after on October 14, 2016.
