We previously got a glimpse of a new Harry Potter game with leaked footage back in October 2018. The rumored project is in development by Avalanche Software, a studio owned by Warner Bros. According to two people working at Avalance Software, the leaked video that showed a very early build of the game was in fact real; however, most of the rumors that have circulated since then are not.

Despite many challenges, including a global pandemic and fierce backlash against recent comments by Harry Potter series creator J.K. Rowling, and even a possible sale of the Warner Bros. gaming publishing business, the game remains on track for a release next year.

However, according to the report, there has been some anxiety within the team due to the studio’s management not addressing the comments by Rowling. While the author’s controversial comments are likely to diminish some anticipation for the title, one developer stressed that she has “very little direct involvement” on the game.

Warner Bros. previously planned to announce the Harry Potter game at E3 2020 before its cancellation due to coronavirus concerns. The publisher will unveil a new Batman game in August during DC FanDome, a digital fan event. The new Harry Potter game reveal will be revealed sometime later, according to a person with knowledge of the plans.
