Hands on Minna no Golf Portable 2

I grabbed a hold of the Minna no Golf Portable 2 demo just after someone put it down and before a Sony representative could wipe the screen clean for me. This was actually a good thing because I got to roam around the game before jumping into the single player mode.

I checked out the costume gallery first, hoping to catch a glance of what was unlocked. The build I played only had a boring shirt and plain pants for Leo, the only available guy player. Nothing exciting here. The Wi-Fi mode wasn’t working either (still a work in progress!), but on the main menu there was a mini-game option. I quickly switched over to that and jumped into a game similar to a driving range. The course had multiple holes and each one had a different score associated with it. The goal was simple: sink the ball in a high scoring hole. However, you only get one shot and then you’re whisked away to another course.

Now it’s time to test out the single player mode. I tried out nine holes of Minna no Golf Portable 2, which is pretty much like the first game. Minna no Golf Portable 2 uses the same system where you fill up a yellow bar to charge a shot and a timed button press to send the ball flying. It’s instantly familiar, but the new courses provide a challenge. It’s definitely more of the same though, but the online mode is what makes Minna no Golf Portable 2 worth checking out anyways. Unfortunately, the build I played didn’t have it working so I could test it out.
