Idea Factory International has revealed new details about Hakuoki: Edo Blossoms, the latest retelling of the otome visual novel that has been around since its 2008 PlayStation 2 debut. In this latest installment, players will be able to have a greater impact on possible endings by offering their blood to bachelors.
In Hakuoki, some members of the Shinsengumi end up taking special medicine, Ochimizu, that turns them into Furies. These are essential vampires who are stronger than ordinary humans and have regenerating health. They also become bloodthirsty and, in some cases, go mad from this. In Hakuoki: Edo Blossoms, Chizuru, the players’ avatar, can offer them her blood. This decision impacts their current level of corruption and can lead to good or bad endings.
As a reminder, Hakuoki: Edo Blossoms is not the full story. The original game has been chopped into two parts for these latest retellings, with Hakuoki: Kyoto Winds covering the initial portion that takes place in Kyoto and Hakuoki: Edo Blossoms looking at the end of the saga in Edo.
Hakuoki: Edo Blossoms will come to the PlayStation Vita in North America on March 13, 2018 and in Europe on March 16, 2018. It will appear on PCs in Spring 2018.
