Gunman Clive 2 will be nearly as cheap as the first Gunman Clive game, developer Bertil Hörberg revealed over Twitter today. Hörberg said the game will cost $3 on the Nintendo eShop in the U.S.
“I’m a bit conflicted about doing such low prices, but it worked out well for the first game and now that’s the reference point,” Hörberg tweeted.
He continued in subsequent tweets: “Every time I brag about my sales numbers I feel obligated to point out how cheap and tiny the game is, which belittles the success somehow. Though, with bundles and steam sales I kind of suspect a lot of indie games don’t really have a much higher average end price.”
Hörberg clarified that the first Gunman Clive was so cheap ($1.99) because that’s how much it cost when it originally launched on smartphones, and it didn’t make sense to increase the price on the Nintendo 3DS. However, once the game did launch on 3DS, it went on to become one of the eShop’s more notable successes, encouraging Hörberg to work on more games for the device.
Gunman Clive 2 doesn’t have a release date yet. The game is currently undergoing the lotcheck process at Nintendo of America.
