Google Chocobo to See Cloud and Chocobos in Honor of FFVII Rebirth

In honor of the launch of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, searching for related terms on Google like Final Fantasy, FFVII Rebirth, and Chocobo will cause Cloud and Chocobos to race across the screen. This all started following the February 29, 2024 launch of the latest game.

The Chocobos don’t immediately run across the screen. Rather, searching for a related topic on Google then causes a yellow button with a Chocobo on it to appear on the screen. Pressing it causes a flock of birds and at least one Cloud riding one to run past. Continuing to press it causes a few stragglers to also dash by. Clicking it once also causes a link to come up that allows someone to share the search so someone else can see it.

Here is a gallery showing the effect and button that appear on applicable Google searches for terms related to FFVII Rebirth.

And here is a list of words we found that someone can Google to cause the effect to pop up:

  • Chocobo
  • Chocobos
  • FF7
  • FF7 Remake
  • FF7 Rebirth
  • FFVII
  • FFVII Remake
  • FFVII Rebirth
  • Final Fantasy
  • Final Fantasy VII
  • Final Fantasy VII Remake
  • Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

Note that searching for names of characters, like Cloud Strife or Sephiroth, will not cause the Chocobo button to appear in your browser.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is available on the PS5, with the exclusivity arrangement ending on May 29, 2024.
