Godzilla Will Get a Kaiju on the Earth Legends Board Game Adaptation

This multiplayer board game will have one player take on the role of Godzilla while the rest play as humans. The game will task the Godzilla player to destroy Tokyo’s landmarks and attack humans. The human players will work together to secure routes to evacuate citizens to neighboring prefectures while avoiding Godzilla’s wrath.

Kaiju on the Earth is a series of board games that depict mankind’s struggles against gigantic Kaiju monsters. The first two titles, Vulcanus and Leviath, were released in Japan in 2019 and 2020, respectively. The third title Yggdrasus, set for release in June 2021, will complete the series’ first season.

Kaiju monsters in the base series have an original but interconnected world setting. However, the LEGENDS series will be faithfully based on famous Kaiju titles. The Godzilla board game will have simpler rules to let people have an easier entry to the metaseries.

In the press release, Arclight and Drosselmeyer confirmed that a second season is also in the works separately from the LEGENDS series. On the Makuake crowdfunding page for Yggdrasus, Arclight also revealed preparations to bring these Kaiju board games overseas.

The Kaiju on the Earth LEGENDS: Godzilla board game should release between Winter 2021 and Spring 2022. In related news, there are three Godzilla mobile games slated for release within 2021. One of them, Run Godzilla, is immediately available outside Japan.
