God Eater 2’s release is just around the corner in Japan and Namco Bandai has another celebrity showdown featuring Oriental Radio hosts Nakata and Fujimori, along with a crew of female Aragami slayers.
In our earlier report, we got a glimpse of God Eater 2’s enhanced character customization. The sequel has more hairstyles, accessories, and voice options. After a brief overview of the game, the God Eater 2 players show off their own characters at around 1:20 and we can see quite the variety.
Next up, Nakata gives us a look at the new weapons in God Eater 2 the Boost Hammer, Charge Hammer, and Shotgun. However, he himself will be using Short Blade and Blast Gun, as he prefers the melee weapon’s simplicity, and found a liking to the new and improved Blast Gun. Meanwhile, Fujimori picks the Charge Spear, along with a crew of Long Blade and Boost Hammer-wielding girls.
In the third part of the video (3:50 mark,) they shift the topic to the new Blood Arts skill system. According to Nakata, the God Eater 2 has a skill evolution feature that grows skills when you use them. This is an appealing part in the upcoming game—especially being able to see numbers going into the skills to unlock new abilities.
At 4:45 we get a look at a Boost Hammer’s Blood Art that shows the player continuously hop-attack in mid-air, which might be useful against flying foes.
Fujimori points out that in multiplayer, we will probably see a variety of unique characters, as players will have various preferred Blood Arts skills that they’ve honed.
We previously got a look at a few celebrities and God Eater fans go head-to-head in a time attack battle. This time, Nakata and Fujimori will be challenging each other, starting with Fujimori and his team of girls at 5:52.
The mission is to defeat the new wolf-type Aragami Vajra, which doesn’t start off in the best note, as Fujimori is seen being knocked out early in the fight. After a quick Link Burst to resuscitate him, and a power up they were able to get Vajra while it was eating. The fight ends smoothly, as they complete the mission in 6 minutes and 51 seconds.
Next up, is the confident Nakata, who is taking on the mission with his trusted NPC buddies at 7:13. He points out how well he can control his NPCs, which is one of the features that allows you to select certain approaches or strategies for your non-playable teammates.
After knocking down the beast, Nakata begins to use a Blood Art skill that is strong against Vajras, which he specifically prepared for the occasion. He impressively completes the mission in merely 4 minutes and 25 seconds. This shows that preparation and having the right Blood Arts can be a crucial factor in taking down tough foes in God Eater 2.
God Eater 2 is slated for release on November 14 for PlayStation Vita and PSP.
